Trends circling back again is inevitable. if you’re my age you remember pegging your jeans in late 80s and probably feel right at home in your skinnies, right? So now the 90s revival is in full swing and I’m sort of loving it! When I think of the 90s so many things come to mind…I mean it’s a span of ten years! I think most people think “grunge”, but the 90s were so much more than that. I have always been an eclectic person. If you look at my home or my wardrobe or even my music collection, this is instantly apparent. I just like what I like. And so it was in the 90s for me. Below I’m going to share with you the things that stick out in my memory when I think of the 90s. This is not an all encompassing list and it may look a little crazy, but they were after all my late teens/early 20s, so what else might you expect?

Although I was 4 years older than Angela Chase and her friends I felt such a kinship to this show. My So Called Life was possibly the best TV that MTV ever did.
In 1993 Salt-n-Pepa softened there look and paired with EnVogue to create What a Man. My world was rocked! To this day, I love this whole album; it makes me wanna shoop 😉
I was a fan of Sassy Magazine from the moment it was accidentally/fortuitously delivered to me in lieu of the Tiger Beat my mom had signed me up for. I was forever changed. It made me feel so very cool and trendy in the untrendiest way. This is where I learned about Marc Jacobs, Todd Oldham, Isaac Mizrahi, John Galliano and let’s not forget John Fluvog shoes. Jane Pratt, I will forever owe you a debt of gratitude.
I listened to a LOT of Tori Amos….like, a lot.

In the 90s, shopping for my plus sized body was a huge challenge (pun intended). Thankfully the trends of granny sweaters, babydolls with black tights and wearing loose fitting corduroy pants on my hips made it a bit easier. This man and these books, however, made so much more possible for me. I have long said that for most plus sized women my age (and older) we focused from the neck up; becoming highly skilled in make-up and hair because it was sizeless. Thankfully, these days, I still have these skills to compliment the ever growing additions to my shopping options.

I could go on and on…but I promise I won’t. Next time I think it’s time to talk explore the 90s trends worth actually revisiting. But oh, how I have loved this trip down memory lane.
